Arrival

Phew, so I arrived this morning at about 830am to Incawasi, but before I go into that, I think its worth it describe an incident which goes to prove just how tiny the world is. I was in the bus terminal in Lima waiting for my bus to start loading when I noticed a white traveler sitting near the bus line for Cajamarca, and I decided to see if we knew anyone in common, so I went up and asked her in spanish if she was going to Caja, and determined from her accent she spoke english and found out not only had she just come from Cajamarca, but she had been working in Incawasi and was going home now and she knew based on hearing about me from Barbara that I was Jordan and greeted me by name. She was in Lima with a friend Seba, who I found out is also friends with Barbara and he called her there in the terminal so I was sitting there in the terminal talking to Barbara (italian) with my two new best friends. Me and Seba sat next to each other on the 16 hour bus ride and had a lot chat about.
Upon arriving at Incawasi besides feeling absolutely disgusting and dehydrated from 2 days of traveling, it was fantastic. You know how smells make strong memories and the smells of this place were insane, and not just here, in the street the sounds of traffic, it felt as if I had never left. Sebastiana, the cook gave me about 9 hugs in the first hour I was there while commenting on my haircut, my scars, asking if I was planning on getting sick again poooobrciiiitaa. It was absolutely fantastic seeing the kids again, just the best. Almost all of them remembered me and started up the running joke from my last stay about my worst nightmare...the comb. hahha. Something about it here just fits me...maby the sort of bohemian lifestyle of everyonceinwhile warm showers and slanted floors and plywood walls, or speaking spanish, or who knows!! Everything here is just more relaxed.
More to come later, time to sleep and try to rack up some hours after the deficit created by the last few days, adios!

The Plan

Sooo, the plan is that I'm leaving August 24th, and after a layover in San Francisco and San Salvador, I will arrive in Lima. From there I'll go more or less directly to Cajamarca by bus. I'll be working at Incawasi (http://incawasi.org.pe) for two months before I head off to Madrid by way of Brazil, where I will be visiting Madrid, Barcelona, Grenada and Sevilla. I will at some point go and see Katie in Mecnes in Morocco. I'll bounce around in Italy for a bit as well, I think Milan, Florence, Venice and Rome will be my main destinations. Slightly unorganized and unscheduled, but I do have a flight out of Rome the 29th of December, so that I know for sure! I'll be home in time for new years and the first day of class the 5th of January. Quite exciting, and this is my first blog post, just to prove that I can do it. Ta da!!
